THE NEW TRIDENT ULTRA 4.3 FISHING KAYAK

What do you get when a top America’s Cup engineer, designers from Ocean Kayak and professional kayak anglers sit down and work together? You get the new Trident Ultra 4.3, the latest fully featured design in the Trident Ultra series which sets the standard in fishing kayaks for others to follow.

Richard Karn from Team New Zealand was the man brought into to optimize the speed performance of this new hull. Richard is an expert who specialises in fluid dynamics and with his influence and experience the Ultra 4.3 is much faster than you would expect from a boat this length. When paddling it feels like you are in a kayak with a much longer waterline, although in reality this is a wonderfully compact and sleek design package.

The Trident Ultra 4.3 is a shorter and lighter version or the Trident Ultra 4.7 which was introduced last year. This makes it easier to handle off the water but it also has new and modified features onboard. The well proportioned deck area and foot well will impress any kayak fisherman and the cockpit has been redesigned to raise the angler’s seating position and provide a faster draining deck. A bespoke version of the seat which has had all the acclaim in the Necky Vector range of kayaks ensures a really comfortable ride too.

Conveniently sited around the seat are four flush mounted rod holders with two more rod holders to the rear. The centre well has been widened to take more kit and a handy Click Seal hatch on the bow offers further quick and easy dry storage. The multi-functional rotating hatch cover for housing and storing a fishfinder has been modified to shed water easily when open and a universal transducer mount has also been added.
