At this year’s London Boat Show Johnson Outdoors UK is exhibiting great sit-on-top kayaks from Ocean Kayak, the world’s number one for these exciting craft. These user friendly and affordable craft offer everyone an opportunity to get afloat and all models are car-toppable. There are also kayaks from the Ocean Kayak range on the Watersports Action Pool, so this year visitors will be able to get afloat to try them out.
Boats on the stand include the Nalu 12.5, a stand up paddleboard (SUP) and surf kayak. A must for fishermen are the great fishing kayaks including the fully featured new Trident 13 Angler, the award-winning Prowler Ultra 4.7, the Prowler Elite 4.5 and the most compact Ocean Kayak fishing kayak, the Caper Angler. On the pool models include the Mysto, the world’s best selling tandem sit-on-top the Malibu Two and the single sit-on-top the Frenzy.
Plenty of friendly advice is available on choosing the right boat for you and your budget and kayak fishing specialist Andy Benham is also at the Show. Andy has chosen to feature the Ocean Kayak Prowler Elite 4.5 fishing kayak in his talks at The Knowledge Box at this year’s London Boat Show. The Knowledge Box is a new visitor attraction at the Show where experts will be giving daily presentations in their specialist field. Andy’s talks are called ‘Get started in kayak fishing’ and will take place on the 13th, 14th and 15th January from 2pm – 2.45pm in The Knowledge Box. As well as giving top tips on kayak fishing in the Knowledge Box he will also be visiting the Johnson Outdoors stand.

NEW PRODUCTS AT LONDON
It will be the first time at the London Boat Show for the new Nalu 12.5 (below), which is perfect for the entry level to intermediate paddler. The Nalu 12.5 can be paddled when standing up or sitting down and comes with its own Comfort Tech™ seat back.
As a stable and manoeuvrable SUP, it also offers a full body work out when you’re on the water. The Nalu 12.5 contains a bow hatch with Cross Lock buckle system for dry storage and additional gear can be carried in the bungee storage area in the stern. |

SPECIALIST FISHING KAYAKS
The fishing kayaks on display include the Prowler Trident 13. The popular Trident series from Ocean Kayak now come with even more advanced features including a Modular Fishing Pod. The pod, located in the centre of the kayak, allows the flexible use of equipment and can be used for mounting rods and tackle trays. The pod even has a built in ruler to make sure the catch is legal.
Further improvements to the Trident series are a Comfort Tech™ seat back and a skid plate. Prowler Tridents are well suited to covering long distances and three models are available in this series at 11’ 5” (3.5m), 13’ 6” (4.1m) and 15’ 7½” (4.8m) respectively. All come with Rod Pods and flush mounted rod holders.
Also showing for the first time at London this year is the award winning Ocean Kayak Prowler Ultra 4.7 fishing kayak. With a 4.7 metre (15’ 5”) performance hull this craft has been designed for serious kayak fishing.
Innovations include a multi-functional rotating hatch cover which can be used to house a fish finder which can then be stowed inside a waterproof compartment.
In the centre hatch there are threaded inserts for a rod tube kit so that two rods can be stored inside the hull. The Prowler Ultra 4.7 also has a moulded in live bait tank situated behind the seat and accessories for this include a tank cover and pump kit to fill and aerate it. Aft of the bait tank is a large deep tank well designed to take an optional ice box storage pod which can be easily removed. Rod holders, moulded in inserts and storage points are fitted on deck and a large forward hatch offers dry stowage. There is a dedicated flat area for fitting a VHF or GPS antenna and the transducer scupper hole will fit various fish finders. |
