There are exciting new additions to the popular Saranac series of canoes from Old Town. The new Saranac 160 designs are longer and slightly wider than previous Saranac models offering even more space on board.

When the first Saranac canoes were introduced last year they became an instant hit by offering so many built-in features and such outstanding value for money. Old Town had started afresh with this range by taking a centuries old design and incorporating all the benefits that modern manufacturing techniques offer. This produced a hull shape which is not only great to paddle but has built in foam buoyancy integral in the seats and lots of moulded in extras.

As well as two contoured seats, there’s a centre bench seat which is perfect for smaller passengers complete with an insulated box inside for storage accessed by a 6” hatch in the centre. There are moulded in storage trays, moulded in handles and a fishing rod holder in the centre. Further moulded in flush mounts for either fishing rods or an anchor system are at the bow and stern.

In addition to the well-fitted out hull there are added design details which really make this canoe stand out. Moulded in cleats and strap eyes at the bow and stern allow you to you make lines fast easily and keep them tidy. There are also paddle rests to stow the paddles and for that picnic afloat cup holders are conveniently located next to the seats.

The new 160 series is available in base, XT or Angler editions. The XT version features padded seats with adjustable seat backs and the Angler editions have a bow-mounted Scotty anchor system and Cannon rod holder. Colours available are green and red for the standard models or green and camo for the Angler editions. Minimal maintenance is required with all Saranac craft which are built of thermoformed polyethylene with a twinskin construction for added durability.
