It was a busy Southampton Boat Show for Johnson Outdoors UK this year with great value new products attracting a lot of attention. Of particular interest was the Saranac range of canoes from Old Town which allows families to get on the water from £549. These fully featured canoes have been fitted out to a high specification for touring and angling and have integral buoyancy.

“There was also a lot of interest in the improvement and upgrades of our popular sit-on-tops in the Ocean Kayak Trident range,” commented Andrew Dron, MD of Johnson Outdoors.  “Kayak fishing continues to grow in popularity and we were delighted to welcome Andy Benham on to our stand to launch his new book on the subject, Discover Kayak Fishing. Members of the Ocean Kayak fishing team also came along to give advice to those interested in the sport.”

For those interested in user friendly recreational kayaking there was also a lot to look at. There was the Vector 13 from Necky which is the latest design in the first of a new generation of craft and is a sit-on-top which paddles like a sit-inside touring kayak. Traditional polymer and composite sea kayaks were also on display.

“We were very pleased with the number and quality of people that visited the stand,” added Andrew “and many of them came along to make buying decisions after seeing the products on the Internet.”
